Story and POV hooks

Story hooks drop the viewer into the middle of a moment, often in first person or as a POV, so they stay to find out what happened next.

Fill in the brackets with something specific to your post. Every hook here is a pattern, not a line to copy word for word: the specific detail you add is what makes it stop the scroll.

Start in the middle

  • The day I [dramatic moment], I learned [lesson].

    Example: The day my account got hacked, I learned to back up everything.

  • POV: [specific situation the viewer has been in].

    Example: POV: your boss says can we hop on a quick call.

  • I almost [gave up/quit] on [thing]. Then [turn].

    Example: I almost quit baking. Then one recipe went viral.

  • [Time] ago I was [past state]. Today [present state].

    Example: A year ago I was sleeping on a friend's sofa. Today I signed a lease.

  • This is the [thing] that got me [result/consequence].

    Example: This is the email that got me my first brand deal.

  • My [person] said [quote]. They were right.

    Example: My grandmother said never trust a recipe without salt. She was right.

  • Story time: the worst [experience] I have ever had.

    Example: Story time: the worst client I have ever had.

  • I made a [cost] mistake so you do not have to.

    Example: I made a 3,000 dollar mistake so you do not have to.

  • Day [number] of [challenge].

    Example: Day 12 of cooking only from my pantry.

  • Nobody believed me when I said [claim], so I filmed it.

    Example: Nobody believed me when I said this works, so I filmed it.
