Making content

Content repurposing

Content repurposing is turning one piece of content into versions made for other platforms or formats, such as a video into a carousel, a thread, and a newsletter section, rather than posting the identical file everywhere.

Also called repurposing content, cross-posting.

Repurposing is not cross-posting. Uploading the same vertical video to every platform is cross-posting; repurposing adapts the idea to each format's conventions: the length, the aspect ratio, the hook, the caption style, and how each platform's audience expects to be addressed.

It works because the expensive part of content is the idea and the research behind it, not the format. One well-researched idea can carry a short video, a longer explainer, a carousel, and a written post, each reaching people who would never have seen the others.

Common questions

Is repurposing content the same as posting it on every platform?
No. Posting the same file everywhere is cross-posting. Repurposing rewrites the content for each platform's format and audience: a new hook, a different length, and a caption written the way that platform reads.
