Rates and payment
Payment terms
Payment terms set when a creator is actually paid after invoicing. Net 30 means payment is due 30 days after the invoice date, net 60 within 60 days.
Also called net 30, net 60, invoice terms.
Late payment is the most common complaint creators have about brand work, and long terms are hard on people running a one-person business who paid production costs up front. Many creators now ask for 50 percent before production and the balance on delivery, particularly with a brand they have not worked with before.
For a brand, agreeing shorter terms is one of the cheapest ways to become a client creators prioritise. Reliable payment gets talked about between creators as much as unreliable payment does.
